How did you discover you had TSW?
I couldnt figure out what was wrong with me so I posted a picture of myself on an eczema support group. Someone told me I had topical steroid addiction. They said “get off steroids and do your research in TSW”. I’m so grateful for that person.
What were the first tell tale symptoms you experienced?
Deep bone itch, red skin, swollen eyes
What is one memory during the withdrawal that you will never forget?
I went to a dermatologist and he’s begging me to put steroids on after explaining to him that my body is addicted to them and that they don’t help anymore. He made me feel so vulnerable and alone.
How is your TSW journey going?
I’m 4 years in and it has gotten better but I’m still going through TSW.
If you had a call to action for the medical community, what would it be?
Don’t ignore what you see in front of you. Steroids are not the only answer. Figure out what the CAUSE of the problem is.
What was a pastime you use to help during TSW?
Using fans, ice packs, and salt baths
What is something you wish to share with the community?
We are not alone. Prayer gives you strength.

When you can’t control what’s happening , challenge yourself to control the way you respond. That is your power!
